This was my 7th year participating in the Hinton MS Mountain Bike Tour and my 2nd as the Volunteer Trail Coordinator. Over the last 6 years I have been responsible for personally raising $150,000.00 and our team the Jasper Rockhoppers have raised over $350,000.00
This past weekend saw almost 300 riders participate in what turned out to be an amazing weekend both for the weather and the trail conditions. Coordinator Geke Duncan assembled an amazing team of volunteers who worked tirelessly and happily to ensure a top notch event.
The Hinton Tours winds up and down through the foothills North of Hinton, encompassing, Old Entrance, the original Grand Trunk Pacific Rail grade, the Brule Community Pasture, Blackcat Ranch, Solomon Mountain, Jarvis Lake, Athabasca Nordic Centre, Switzer Park, Athabasca Ranch and the Town of Hinton, one technical single track, double track, cut-lines old roads and town trails.
The overall fundraising goal for this event is set at $400,000.00 and at race day we were slightly over $300,000.00 so the confidence level is extremely high that we will meet or beat this number by the October 30th guideline, (particularly if I make my $93,000.00 goal)
A big Thank You goes out to all the MS staffers, Tour Volunteers, Land owners, Sponsors and Participants.
This is a quality event with some absolutely amazing cycling terrain, scenery and camaraderie, all for a great cause. This should be on everyone’s bucket list for sure!
You are an excellent example of dedication and selflessness and I am proud to know you. I just wish it were possible for me to contribute more financially.
